Friday night and Saturday morning 15 of our men attended the Maximum Man Conference in Raleigh. I have a hard time keeping track, but I believe it's the 5th MMC I've attended over the years.
Ministry to Men, which organizes the conference brings in some top notch speakers - mostly non-preacher types - who through testimony and practical teaching talk to men about men stuff. Things like our relationships with our wives, our children, our careers, masculinity, patriotism, prayer, finances, etc. It's all good and compliments the men's ministry at NHC well.
My favorite part of the conference, however, really isn't the teaching. It's the comraderie and fellowship with my brothers. We have a blast, both making the 3.5 hour trip, eating and roooming together, and sharing what we're learning. Men need that "male bonding" time.
By the way, what is a "maximum man"? It's a man who patterns his life after THE Maximum Man, Jesus Christ. Not an easy life choice, but for a Christian, it's the best choice. Hopefully the conference helped us all in that quest.
The picture is most of our group with Gene Getz, author of such books as "The Measure of a Man" and "Sharpening the Focus of the Church", two books that have been an important part of my personal and professional growth. He's one of my heroes.

Our main Pastor teacher has taken a group of men from our young marrieds group and has started something similar. They meet once a month.
They recently completed a book called "Manly Dominion in a Passive Puple Four Ball World" by Mark Chanski. Its a really good book. Some of us wives have been reading it and encouraging our husbands to apply it.
