Could Revival Be Far Behind?

Dr A. T. Pierson once said, 'There has never been a spiritual awakening in any country or locality that did not begin in united prayer.' From the little bit I have studied about the historical revivals that have on occasion swept continents with the unleashed power of God, the common denominator seems to have been a return to prayer by God's people, often beginning with one or two, then spreading and catching like wildfire.

I'm wondering, after a week or so of reading comments from believers from around the planet if a revival is not being birthed. Those comments frequently point to an increased prayer life, which is my own experience as well. Yesterday in the worship gatherings in my church I asked, "How many of you prayed more last week than at any other time in your life?", and the raised hands were everywhere.

What if God decided to use the story of a young woman in a health crisis and the birth of her daughter and the love and faith that holds their family together to ignite a revival around the world? I believe it could happen. In fact I'm praying now for that very thing, and I invite you to join me.

I may be wrong, but I don't know of a revival beginning in cyberspace. But why not? As the old song says, "Lord, send a revival, and let it begin in me."

It could happen.

(Here's an interesting site on the history of prayer and revival.)

Amen. I am yearning to see revival like I've heard of in the past. I want my children to see an outpouring of God that will revolutionize their world.

I was thinking the same thing the other day...that a true revival is happening that has started with the story of this precious family and their faithfulness and obedience...and how there are so many people all over the globe who are being transformed...even in my own prayer life there have been huge changes and I pray my walk with the Lord continues to grow!!!

I guess when you think about the definition of revival it is already begun, it will be determined how deep and wide it travels. Many have begun to experience personal revival, and I'm sure among families and as we gather some churches. It could happen.

how awesome would that be!

i definitely know that i have personally experienced a different prayer life these past two weeks. and i do feel its overflow. i feel an urgency to pray for others in my life that i should have been praying for all along. and with prayer, comes more love for them, more desire for them to truly know God, a shifted focus back to what God is doing in them and in world around me, etc, etc...

I can certainly say a revival has started in my own family. We've had more dinnertime discussions about God, prayer, revival, grace, sovereignty, miracles than I think we ever have. Our prayer life TOGETHER as a family has certainly been revived and our nightly devotions have strarted back up. Praise Be to God!

I thought the same thing the first day i read Nates blog and started seeing all the little red dots on the map. How incredible it is to be involved in praying for your children, knowing there are thousands agreeing together. Just to watch God in action in our lives! Wow, it is overwhelming!

May Gods power beging to move as His people continue to pray...

our little church needs his revival...i have relized that i need to pray for the health and life of those in my congregation, just like i have for Gwyn and Tricia...it too is on "life support"...even criticle care if you will....

May others in my church body also feel the call...that he may work miricles among us and bring glory to his name..

I have read your son's blog - I found it through a comment on another blog - after I read a little about him and his wife - I wrote a post on my blog asking people to pray. This is an amazing story...I have not yet had the time to go back and read all the ins and outs of the journey - but I am blown away by the thankfulness and praises that are flowing abundantly out of each of your mouths. How faithful you each have been to point back to Christ - WOW! I will be praying for each of you and know that your blogs are an inspiration to us out here reading them. God is using Tricia and her story in HUGE ways. Sunshine

I know for myself Trisha, Gwyneth, and Nathan's story has caused a revival of my own belief, and a return to prayer, constant prayer that I have not felt, nor had in 15 years. Looking at all of the blogs in which their story is mentioned, or prayers are asked for them makes me believe that there is truely a higher power at work here.
I just want to thank you, Andy, Nathan and Terry for giving me the words that have failed me over the past years, and for giving me the faith back again.

I am a believer and having just learned of your family today I am praying along with you.
I don't know about revival but I hope that you are right about that. All I can add to those thoughts is that thru this crisis in your family I have learned of your church. We have never attended church while vacationing but when we are in the OBX next time we will visit your church.

Hoping that God will continue to bless your family!

I've been keeping up with the Nate, Tricia, and Gwyneth saga now...I must admit, it's quite the addiction :-) I definitely see how God could use it though to help bring revival. I've seen many times over in my life how what the devil has tried to do in my life to bring death and destruction, God has been able to turn around and bring hope and life through it :-) I love that we serve a God so big that no matter the circumstances...no matter how horrible or bad things seem to be, God is bigger than them, and He can bring something good out of it.

Regarding prayer, the campus ministry that I'm a part of has prayer every morning (Mon-Fri) at 7:14 (2 Chronicles 7:14). As far as we know, it's the largest AM prayer meeting on a secular campus in the US. We'll have anywhere from 50-60 most mornings (shocking...I know...college students that get up that early ;-) ). Anyway, we've seen God move and do awesome things when we're faithful to come together and pray as a body...

Hey Wendy!
Sorry I took so long to respond. I haven't checked on this post for a few days.

Good to hear from you. I saw your sisters back in July, 06 when I was out there for a reunion. I'll make sure Gail sees your comment.

Thanks for checking in and especially for the prayers.
