The damage was not as bad as was expected. The nerve in her thumb was not cut, just bruised. The tendon in her pinky that allows her to use it was re-attached. Her left arm (thankfully she's right handed) is in a cast of sorts and she's wearing a sling.
We're now home from the hospital and after a little soup and crackers and a dose of a painkiller, she's sleeping soundly.
After being up past 2 o'click this AM working my paying job, I'll be sawing logs with her soon.
Thanks for all the prayers and notes of encouragement. She doesn't know about them yet, but I'm sure she'll be surprised to read them later this evening.
She starts her PT next week.
Be careful handling glass!!

Glad to hear the surgery was a success. Also glad to hear the damage wasn't as bad and that it’s not her dominant hand.
Will keep praying :)
Yay for a successful surgery! We are so glad it turned out not to be as bad! We are praying that she heals fast! Regarding your "paying" job, I didn't realize you had another job besides pastor at the church? Hope you all get your much needed rest!
Thanks so much for the update! I got the prayer request from Nathan's site. Am praying for all of you!
Rick and Gail
I found out about Gail's hand and surgery when I checked up on your son's family. We'll be sure to keep all of you in our prayers. I hope your recovery goes smoothly, God Bless you all Sherri Jenkins
I am glad to hear that the surgery was a success and not as much damage as originally thought. Praying for all.
Your family has been through so much! I'm glad that you have your faith to see you through. But still, you must all be exhausted emotionally and physically. You are in my prayers. Try to kick back now and again to give yourself a little relief.
Glad to hear that the surgery went well.
I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well. We will be praying for a speedy recovery.

So glad to read that the surgery went well, and you are back home. Will be praying for a good night of sleep for both of you, and minimal pain during the recovery period!

I'm so glad the surgery went well. Please tell Gail that I am praying for a fast recovery.
Kaylee,
Being a pastor is my "paying job". But when you spend your day taking your wife to the doctor (and hour and a half away), you don't end up with time to get your job done.
Thursday for me is "wrap it up" day for my sermon, and with her surgery today and the care time later, I knew that I had to do what I had to do!
So glad to hear surgery went well... I'm sure she's anxious to see Gwyneth and Nate and Tricia.
Glad the surgery went smoothly and that there wasn't as much damage as originally thought, which is a relief! Also, it's definitely a good thing that it wasn't her dominant hand, so it should make some things easier for her to do (i.e. writing!).
You both get some much needed rest!
Take care,
Marissa :-)
Guess I missed a lot being "offline" most of the day...
So happy Gail's surgery went well. Surgery of any sort is a little scary!
Praying for a fast recovery!
Glad the damage was not as bad as expected and the surgery went well.
I will pray for a quick recovery.
Thanks for the update.
Thanks for the update.
Praying for quick healing...and a restful night for you both.
just checking in to see how your beautiful wife is doing, thanks for posting the update. Continuing to pray for her rest and recovery.
That is good news. We'll be praying for a quick recovery and a good nights sleep for you!
Glad to read that the surgery was successful - will continue to remember you all in my prayers.
So glad Gail's surgery was a success. Praying for a speedy recovery.
Here's hoping for a swift and not too painful recovery for Gail! And yea for Gwyneth and Tricia and Nate, too.
Let us know how Gail is doing ... :)
