Breathe deeply, Haley

Haley Palmer lost her battle to stay alive today.

How I hurt for her parents, family and friends.

Thanks for your prayers on their behalf.

Cystic Fibrosis, while a horrible disease, somehow works to fashion the most incredible people we'll ever meet.

Dance for joy Haley. I want you to teach me how one day.

I read your blog a few nights ago and have checked off and on at Haley's Caring Bridge site - oh how my heart hurts for her family. Thank you for giving the heads up to pray for them. Sunshine

Thank you so much for your posts about Haley. For those of us who got a chance to know this radiant beam of sunshine for even a while, we'll never be the same. We got the privilege of being neighbors, friends and fellow churchmembers with her and her family and joined her walk team to help fight CF. If only the world could be filled with people who choose to make a difference like she has and to face EVERY obstacle with a smile as big as all outdoors, what a wonderful world this would be. My daughter has spent the night alternating from sobbing to joy because she knows Haley's in heaven with Jesus in a healthy new body but she also knows how much she will miss her and how devastated her little sister will be. Knowing that Nate's readers are praying for them gives us such a great feeling because having that many people praying for her family can do nothing but good things for them. Cherish that picture you have of her on the site today, even in the hospital - that girl had a smile that could make the clouds part. Thanks again!

What a beautiful girl she was, in every way! Reminds me of a young girl we knew who also dealt with CF with amazing spunk, until about the same age. Your statement that CF "somehow works to fashion the most incredible people we'll ever meet" certainly was true about our young friend, Heather, ...and has been demonstrated over and over again in Haley, Tricia, Alice, Christy....and all of those that millions of us have become acquainted with through your blog and Nate's. Will continue to pray for Haley's family, and all who knew and loved her, in the difficult time ahead!

I am so sorry to hear about Haley. I will be praying for her family in this very difficult time. It is hard to understand why young people must leave the earth so early. Our church family is suffering a similar loss this week as we mourn the tragic death of Sam Thomsen, who was killed in the tornado at the boy scout camp. He was an amazing teen and we will miss him dearly. We should never underestimate the influence that our young people can have on us, and the lessons we can learn from them!

I have followed Haley's progress for the past couple of weeks since Nathan mentioned her on his blog. Somehow finding out that she lived so very close to us has made her story even that much more moving and somber to me. I couldn't agree more that adversity CAN make for the MOST AMAZING people! Sounds like she chose to let it shape her so. Something I continually struggle to remind myself to do . What a sweet example she leaves as one small part of her legcy. Her family is in my prayers.

As another person said in their comment, I agree with your statement on CF also.
I have one of those precious CF children, my little fighter will be 12 yrs old in August, her name is Molly and she's such an amazing little girl!

They really are amazing. Heros of the spirit. Still, sad for one so young to leave (though she is in a much better place.) Prayers to her family. My heart breaks for them.
