A Sign the Economic Stimulus is Working!
So this is how it works!
Thanks to my friend Terri in Tulsa. She actually went into the store and came out with a 32 oz. fountain drink for a penny. But she doesn't think they understand why.
OK, I'll bite. I see the 32 oz, and the price w/the redundant decimal point (which w/out the dollar sign makes it just a number w/a decimal), and just to make sure, the cents sign. What am I missing? Along w/whoever "they" are, I don't understand, either.
BUT, what I do understand is that gas is over three bucks/gal here in CA, and theirs is well under that figure! You, too, should be under Schwarzenegger's masterful governance.
It took Josh about 5 minutes to explain this to me...he had to use small words and he was drawing cents signs in the air with his fingers alot...I finally got it.
Good for your friend! I'm glad she got the soda for a penny. Totally a Josh thing to do. He tried to get a display thing at Walmart today for a penny because it was definitely marked that way! :)
Everyone is passionate about something. Who I am and who I am becoming as a man, a husband, a father, grandfather, retired pastor, leader and Christ-follower all work together to shape my passions.
If I think I've got some wisdom or insight to share, I'll share it. If I have a question to ask, I'll ask it. If something in the news strikes me I may comment on it. I won't shy away from controversy, but neither will I tolerate what we call in the south "ugly" behavior in readers' comments.
If you enjoy it, great! Glad to have you along. If you don't, that's OK, too. Thanks for stopping by.

Now if only that was for 32oz of gas....

do they make a coin that's only worth .32c? "back in my day, you could by a drink from sonic for a third a penny..."
The sign says a 32 oz. drink is less than a half a cent. (49/100 of a cent to be exact.)
Yeah, I got that when I saw the sign initially, but did your friend press the point, and then they gave it to her for $.01?
If she did, right on.
Cathy
That's what she did, and she's encouraged her friends to do the same until they change the sign!
She has a master's degree in math (teaches at the university level) and is a bit hyper about numerical ignorance...
I ALWAYS try to work the angles. I know, I know, big surprise!
Enjoy your day tomorrow. May Gail and your kids fawn all over you--or something like that.

But when you think about it, shouldn't she get 2 drinks for a whole penny? :) Or maybe she said, "Keep the change!"
