In old town Placentia, CA is a little family run restaurant. If you want the real deal, this is one of the best, but little known Mexican eateries I've found in Orange Co..
Yesterday I got the "Salad Burrito", a burrito filled (I mean filled) with shredded roast beef and refried beans and covered with lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. I've also had their chile relleno burrito - a burrito filled with chiles rellenos. And their chips are home made and thick.
Two thumbs up.

I'm glad you're having a lovely time. I never quite like Mexican food as much as I think I'm going to. We are hoping to go to the LA area next March to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and watch the World Ice-Skating Championships, but it may not happen.
Was looking at your home on the Outer Banks on Google Maps yesterday - what a lovely area to live in!
I love that you are "eating" your way through the vacation! My favorite food is Mexican and I am craving some of the 'real' thing. Have a lovely time!
You are making me miss my home town of Placentia and some good Mexican food!! I ate there many times!
Enjoy your vacation! Eating your favorites is the best part of vacation! Hope it is nice and relaxing for you and your wife!!
Be sure to have some fish tacos while you're out here. I've heard that the best ones in Orange county are at Wahoo's. (I think there are several in O.C., so it shouldn't be too hard to find.) If you're headed up to the Malibu area, Duke's Barefoot Bar & Grill has the absolute best fish taco's ever. They only serve them in the bar. And if you're lucky, you might be able to get a table on the sand.
Have fun!!
Millions of tacos, tacos for me.
My favorite mexican food experience:
The El Adobe in Atoka, Oklahoma. The only "mexican" restaurant I've ever been in that tops their tacos with shredded american processed cheese food. I deemed it the El Apuke. BUT he did make some mean home made salsa but you had to ask for it otherwise you got Pace.
I think tonight I shall make some tacos, refried black beans and rice. You must always have rice with beans or beans with rice. Those that order just one don't know what they are doing. I know because I went to the University of Beans and Rice in Austin, Texas. Austin has tacos everywhere.
So glad to hear you are getting to enjoy your fav foods! We are huge mexican food fans here in S.B and are fortunate enough to also have some great choices of mex food around here.
Happy Dining!
j
Andy,
The correct Spanish spelling of that restaurant in OK would be "El
Apuque".
