She's amazing! Such a great role model :-) Michael Phelps is cool and all, but he's also 23...I'm not quite sure that he could be doing the same stuff at 41.
She's absolutely right! I will never make the Olympics, but my husband and I are passionate ice-skaters, even though we are in our mid-fifties. In fact, at one stage my husband was both British and French champion - for the oldest age group and lowest level!
If you do a sport, then go for it and have fun with it, no matter how old you are.
No, but I do have red boot-covers; when I was new to the sport, I bought them and always wore them so that people who didn't know my name would think of me as "The woman with the red boot-covers" rather than "the fat woman who can't skate". And it sort of stuck....
When I watched her win last night, I couldn't help but be amazed. And when she said that line about telling her daughter not to let her dreams not be based on age, I thought to myself- that's a really good point. I wish we all lived life that way..myself included. I wonder how different our world (and our churches) would be.
Yes she is amazing. But you can tell swimming is one of her passions no doubt about it. I say more power to anyone who trains as she has at 41. She sure has a story to tell her Daughter when she is old enough to understand. Michael Phelps that to was pretty awsome to reach that goal at such a young age.
Everyone is passionate about something. Who I am and who I am becoming as a man, a husband, a father, grandfather, pastor, leader and Christ-follower all work together to shape my passions.
If I think I've got some wisdom or insight to share, I'll share it. If I have a question to ask, I'll ask it. If something in the news strikes me I may comment on it. I won't shy away from controversy, but neither will I tolerate what we call in the south "ugly" behavior in readers' comments.
If you enjoy it, great! Glad to have you along. If you don't, that's OK, too. Thanks for stopping by.

She is indeed an amazing competitor as well as a model of great sportsmanship. A joy to watch!
the age might not limit me, but the aging body is playing havoc!
