Wanna meet an incredible family?

Don and Agnes are Tricia's parents. Nathan's in-laws. They're heroes of mine for many reasons. Perfect? No. (Their imperfections come out loud and clear when engaged in a game with the Lawrensons.) But way above average? Most definitely, yes.

Their third child, Megan, (3rd out of 6, and the second 3 were adopted) gives a great glimpse in her blog into what it was like to grow up in their home - a home intentionally built upon solid values. . And the end result? Just read it here.

We're blessed to have Don and Agnes in our congregation. Whether they like it or not, they're role models for our rapidly growing church of young families. ou young parents would do well to pick their brains, but more importantly dissect their hearts.

Oh yeah, and Don's a PK, too. That makes it even more amazing.

Agnes and Don have mastered the art of making each person feel special, whether it be a child, a co-worker, or a friend like me. I am blessed every single day from their friendship. I can't wait until ALL of the Kirschners and Lawrensons are back HOME at NHC! Barbara Kay

Barbara--
Hang in there!
The Kirschner clan will be storming the beach in June. We fully count on Tricia, Nate and the newest cousin to be there with us!! :)

I don't know why, but I am continually amazed when I see the Holy Spirit work in my life. Just earlier this afternoon, while making my kids grilled cheese and PB&Js, I was thinking about Nate & Tricia. I was wondering, to myself of course b/c my 3.5 yr old and 22mo twins don't "get" my out loud thoughts, how I could raise children to love, fear, obey and look to the Lord during times of great joy and great stress. I thought about you and your wife, and Tricia's parents and what you did right, as well as the mistakes. I often worry about pushing my kids too hard toward Christ. I worry that it will turn them away. I worry that I am over-emphasizing Him. Then I remember the relationship I have with the Creator of the universe and I know that I must put my trust in Him, as well as the lives of my children. Then I check Nate's blog, go to yours and find your posting. Amazing how God just confirms things everywhere for me!

My husband and I already seek counsel from Godly parents within our church. Maybe someday, (since we live in NC too) we can visit your church, meet your incredible family and pick your brains as well. Many, many, many blessing and even more prayers...

I don't think we should push our kids toward God at all". Not hard, not soft. They're like sheep. Push them and they scatter.

Rather lead them by example and they'll follow.

I understand what you mean by leading by example. I just desperately want them to fear, love and obey Him with all of their hearts. Thanks for the insight. My stomach is in knots, as I pray, wait, pray, wait to hear news about Tricia.

I couldn't agree with you more. As I drove to classes at Immanuel in Bellmawr (where Tricia was once a student)this AM those were my exact thoughts. The Kirshners are my heroes. Now as an adoptive parent myself I can only sit in awe at the things they have done through the years. I first came in contact with them as Tricia's teacher and they were amazing at supporting her then. They have never wavered or looked back. Amazing....I pray I can learn from them to love my girls as well.
