Strong Genes

As I look at my first grandchild I see some strong family resemblance. So I went searching and found a remarkably similar photo of me and my first daughter taken 24 years ago. (Sarah has really changed a lot since then.)

I might someday also show you a picture of me as a baby. No, it's not a tin-type, but it is black and white. And you'll know where Gwyneth got those cheeks everyone is raving about.

But genetics aren't the only thing, and certainly not the most valued things we get from our ancestors. There's nothing you can do about what has been physically passed down to you. It's also easy and very PC, I might add, to blame all our shortcomings and failures on how we were raised and our environment.

But no matter what genetic or socio-economic cards you been dealt, what you do with your life ultimately comes down to the choices you make. Things like faith and attitude trump the gene pool every time.

Tricia is a glowing example of that.

Absolutely correct. Also of great importance is to get that little baby hand into the hand of Jesus very early on.

Adorable pictures of both "babies"!

So true what you send about genes passed down. A much more important gift for your children is to model, by word and example, before them a wonderful love for God that they will hopefully want for themselves someday.

Rick, You seem to have the same look on your face in both pics! Amazement? Joy? Fear?(lol)
I told you once before, having 1 grandaughter myself, They are incredable. Quite something to hold your child's child, isn't it?
God Bless you all,

Both Sarah and Gwyneth have the look of "What in the world is that?!" on their face.
Rick you haven't changed much, well your hair is a different color and not so thick, that's about all. your hair oh and you don't have the Thomas Magnum mustache anymore. So your hair and your mustache that's all, Oh, and your 16 year old brother isn't living with you either.
